about

This album is a tribute to Paul Bower, a champion of the Sheffield music scene and friend to many artists in the city. During his time in the music business he worked for Mr Modo records and helped to launch The Orb. He was studio manager at Axis Studios, and was a part of the management team for The Longpigs and Audioweb. His greatest achievement was to set up Artists Without a Label (AWAL) from scratch, helping musicians get their music online, back in the day when no one had a means to get their music online.

Paul was also a musician, he had his own projects such as The Icons of Noise and Dr Universalis, as well as being in bands such as The Fuck Popes, The Psychoterrorists, The Chillage People, PsychoAcoustic SoundClash and Stars on 23.

All the artists on this album are either Sheffield based or originally from Sheffield - they have donated these tracks as a tribute to Paul and all proceeds from this album will go directly to The Sheffield Cats Shelter.
